This charming antique botanical print comes from Johann Wilhelm Weinmann’s celebrated Phytanthoza Iconographia (1737–1745), one of the most important botanical illustration works of the 18th century.
Identified as plate N. 42, the original botanical study depicts two varieties described as Aloe Mucronato folio Americana major and Aloe Mucronata major foliis Pictis seu ex Luteo variegatis, beautifully presented in an ornate decorative vessel.
Combining meticulous botanical observation with rich colour and decorative detail, the print beautifully showcases the distinctive colour-printing and hand-finishing techniques for which Weinmann's botanical illustrations became celebrated.
