Introducing the enchanting Rothschild Bird collection by Herend, one of the porcelain house’s most celebrated and enduring designs. Dating back to the 19th century, the collection takes its name from the Rothschild family, who favoured the pattern for their Herend services from the 1860s.
At the heart of the design are beautifully hand-painted birds perched amongst delicate branches, butterflies and insects, with a fine gold chain woven into the scene. The pattern is associated with the charming legend of a Rothschild family necklace lost in a garden and later discovered amongst the branches, where two birds were said to have been playing with it.
The collection is also beautifully reimagined with Herend’s distinctive Fish Scale decoration, a technique rooted in the house’s 19th-century tradition and inspired by Far Eastern porcelain. Paired with the whimsical Rothschild Bird scenes and refined gold detailing, the intricate scaled borders bring another layer of colour and artistry to this historic pattern, creating a collection that feels wonderfully decorative, characterful and timeless.
